While July had some disruption with a COVID outbreak and lockdown, since opening the UMHCC to walk-in support in June, we have welcomed on average, 65% of guests directly through the front door. Knowing the UMHCC is a place you can go when experiencing a mental health crisis, without a referral, and receive urgent support, is key to offering an immediate urgent care option for guests and their supporters.
We are pleased to see the message about this new alternative is being shared within the community. Alongside walk-in support, we also welcome referrals from the community, carers, Mental Health Triage and emergency services referrals until 10:30 pm each day, including weekends and public holidays.
In this update, we launch a new video featuring UMHCC guests, staff and referrers talking about the experience of the service for them and for the community. We’ll be sharing more stories from guests and others over the coming weeks so be sure to keep an eye on our website or follow Neami on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their time and their stories.
In response to the recent COVID-19 restrictions, the UMHCC remained open, following a COVIDSafe plan informed by government advice about mask-wearing, physical distancing and good hygiene to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all people who attend the UMHCC.
We are continually seeking the best ways to let people know about the UMHCC if and when they might need it. If you know someone who may be interested please forward this update or post up one of our resources to help share the details of the service. If you would like printed versions of our resources or to attend one of our tours or information sessions, please get in touch with us
Over the next few weeks, we are continuing to welcome people for tours of the UMHCC. To streamline the experience, we are now offering online information sessions. These sessions are a good opportunity for people wanting to know more about our unique blend of high-engagement, peer-supported mental health support. Details are below and we look forward to hearing from you.
